Chom Ong Cave
Chom Ong Cave is one of the most interesting tourist destinations in the region and recognized as one of the most longest caves in Oudomxay. A recently rediscovered natural attraction located about 43 km from Xay town. The increasing number of tourist visiting the cave is getting higher and higher. We offer two different Chom Ong cave tours – The first one is the 1 day Chom Ong Cave tour and the second one is the 2 days 1 night Chom Ong Cave tour. Visitors can discover inside of cave, Trekking , HomeStay, learn about khummu culture at Chom ong village, Picnic, Swimming in Houay Krang river. There are English speaking guide in the village. You can visit by self or with a guide. To rent a motorbike or private car to go there about 43 km from the centre of town.
Phou That Stupa
Phuthat Stupa” Xaymoungkhoun Latanamingmeuang Stupa” is very prominent culture site in Oudomxay, located on the top of the hill, it is far 500 m from center of Muang Xay Town. The stupa was built for all Buddhist followers to celebrate religious festivals and ceremonies. It is presumed that the stupa was originally built by Tai Lue tribe during the 14th century when the era of King Phachao Xaysetha Thirath was still on his throne. Every full moon day the religious ceremony will held at the stupa. The stupa’s height is 18 meters from the bottom to the top. The dimension of the stupa is 18 m x 18 m. It’s recognized as the symbol of Oudomxay Province. Arriving this stupa means you reach Oudomxay.
In the morning, to walk or take a bike up to the top mountain. The panorama of province is properly in taking photo, around the stupa has a big Buddha. Also the sunset in the evenning is so marvelous.
Oudomxay Museum
Oudomxay Museum is located on top of Phou Sebey in Ban Cheang village of Oudomxay town. The name of the mountain comes from the French army camp that was used to be there. The French army called the mountain “C.B.” – the French pronunciation of this abbreviation further on transferred into today’s Lao name “Sebey”. The museum contains differen old items and many things about Oudomxay. Travelers can see all the exhibits inside to discover information of archeology, agriculture, history and culture. The receptionists who will explain information for you during your visiting.
To visit by youself by walking 10 minutes. Open on Mon-Fri day, 8:00 am – 16:00 Pm.
The Kilometer 5 Waterfall
The Km 5 waterfall is situated in Vieng Sa Village, Xay District, Oudomxay Province and about 5 Km from Xay town. People used to call the said waterfall “Houay Xang” as based on the surrounding geography – Houay Xang means Stream with bamboo forest. The name of the waterfall was changed from Houay Xang to Km 5 Waterfall since the site was developed to be as a relaxing or service place in 2013. The height of the waterfall is 30 meters and there is water all year round, but less water in the dried season. Lots of bamboos can be seen around the waterfall. It’s a famous place for people to relax on weekends. Many bamboo booths were built for visitors in a private way around the waterfall and good food are available for visitors to try.

Nam Hin Reservoir
Located in Ban Houay Oun Village, Meuang Xay town, Oudomay Province about 8 Km from Xay town. It’s a new tourist attraction and turn into a very famous picnic place for Lao people on weekends. The Nam Hin Reservoir gets bigger because of small streams flow down from the surrounding mountains. You can see lots of fishes in the Nam Hin Reservoir. The government release fingerings (Young fishes) into the Nam Hin Reservoir every year, so it makes the lake become alive. Considered as one potential tourist destination in Oudomxay and a place where you shouldn’t miss.
There, you can also enjoy fishing, Picnic, boating and swimming., learn about khummu culture at Houay Oun Village.

Phachaosingkham BuddhaTemple
Phachaosingkham Temple ” Buddha Temple ” is in Meuang La Disrtict, around 28 Km from Xay town on the direction to Phongsaly. It’s a sacred and famous temple in Oudomxay or we can say even in Laos. The temple was built more than 2,000 years ago. It used to be a very small temple in the past. People from different places go there almost everyday just for their own religious purpose. According to people’s view – the most sacred temple. If you want to find out more about the temple we would suggest you to visit it just to see the real situation there. A place where you should not miss. You will get what you ask for.

You can visit the Phachaosingkham BuddhaTemple by using the local transportation service (Tuk-Tuk) or rent a bike to go there. Or You Can og with Muang Khua Bus from Northern Bus Station there has 3 bus per day: 8:30 , 12:00 and 15:00.
Paradise Mountain
This paradise mountain is located in Ban Longya Village about 25 Km from Xai district on the same direction to Namkat waterfall. It’s one of the oldest Tai Dam villages in the Province. The paradise mountain is far approx 200 meters from the village. There are three sacred Buddha footprints which discovered by a local man for many years ago. People in the area always believe that such footprints are sacred. In 2004, the village decided to develop the area as a religious place for worship and afterward many different Buddha statues and animals were built around the area. It’s now extremely famous for all Buddhist believers in the province as well as other people from different places come to pray for lucky for their life or journey, and also learn about History of Buddha footprints. To visit this place by local transportation (Tuk-Tuk) or mortobike.
Aa No Village
Aa No is the name of the leader who led his people (40 families) to Laos and the village was named Aa No after he passed away. The village’s population continued to increase, including through migration of Akha people from other places. Aa No Village is situated in the Northeast of La District (Meuang La), about 32.5 km from Meuang La. Access to the village is possible all year round, but it’s quite hard during the raining season. There, you can experience more about their traditional culture, daily lifestyle, and many more things in the village.

Ban Nyor village
Ban Nyor is situated in Meuang Beng, 53 km from Meuang Xay town on the road to Pakbeng in the economic corridor between Chinese in the North Vietnam in the East and Thailand in the West. This unique location provides many economic as well as touristic opportunities. In Ban Nyor you will also see and learn on hand-made pottery production system, cotton processing, textile weaving and natural cotton dying.
These are their cash income generating activities. Pakbeng District
Pakbeng is a small town, located on the Mekong River about halfway between the Thai border at Huay Xai and Luang Prabang, Laos. Pakbeng is connected by a sealed road with Oudomxay along the Nam Beng River. Most tourists will have to stop here over-night on the slow-boat trip to/from Luang Prabang. It`s also possible to arrive by speedboat to the north. Much more uncomfortable than the slow boat, however you will arrive before the slow boat. There are several guesthouses that usually have attached restaurants, a sauna, and many local hill tribes living close by. You also get to see the town as the only Westerner, espeacially in the afternoon and evening time.
