For those who want to do a city tour around town

1.Visitors can visit villages and some tourist attractions around the Luang Namtha valley or near other district centers on their own or can purchase a tour program from a local tour operator. Please visit the provincial Tourist Information Center or a tour operator for more information on interesting sites to visit.

2.If you choose to rent a motorbike or bicycle to tour around town on your own, you are required to follow traffic rules such as: always wear a helmet, only rent a motorbike with a yellow license plate, always carry your driver’s license, observe the speed limit and only travel within the boundary of the district where you rented the motorbike. For example, if you rent a motorbike in Luang Namtha Town you are only permitted to drive within Luang Namtha District. Please ask for a map from the place where you rent the bicycle or motorbike. Maps are also available at the provincial Tourist Information Center.

3.Unless you are on an organized trekking trip, boat tour or home stay program, in the evening you must return to Luang Namtha or one of the district centers to find accommodation in town. Spending the night at any other place besides a registered hotel or guesthouse is not permitted.
