Culture & Nature Circuit

Soak in Long District’s nature while trekking to various ethnic villages in the mountains and along the rivers east of town on this four-day trek. You’ll head out on the trail in the early morning, and step into forests of bamboo, bananas, and primal trees, and possibly hear or catch a glimpse birds, squirrels and even monkeys as the path climbs to mountain views stretching to the horizon. You’ll reach the Hmong and Lahu community of Ban Nam Bo for dinner with the locals, and to learn about their daily lives and age-old traditions, before sleeping in a villager’s house. A moderate second day walks south through a bamboo forest and crosses streams before a few easy climbs and a break to bathe in a cool brook. The path reaches Ban Nam Hee, an Akha village located near a river, where a local guide explains the “Akha Way”. You’ll have dinner, receive a traditional welcome massage, and stay overnight. Day 3 heads west and downhill through the village’s fields to the Nam Hee River. The trail continues through the forest with a few easy uphill climbs to Chong Ka Mai for an overnight home-stay. After an early morning trek up Phou Ya Kha Mountain, the trail dips down to the Nam An stream. You’ll crisscross the knee-deep creek almost a dozen times on the path to Ban Nam An Village, where a tuk tuk awaits for the drive to the Lanten village of Ban Pa Kha, and then back to Long Town.
