Motorbike Journeys
Sing and Long districts provide some of the best “off the beaten track” motorcycling experiences in Luang Namtha province. Best to rent a motorbike in Luang Namtha town and head on out to Muang Sing and Muang Long where the tourist information centres can help you with detailed maps of villages and ethnic groups and give you up-to-date information about road conditions.

2 Days Tour By Motorbike from Muang Long

Duration: First day 5 hours, Second day 6 hours.
Highlights: Life experience of Akha, Taileu, Lahou (Kouy) ethnic groups, Akha rice whiskey, Akha massage, Mekong view and Myanmar border.
Short Description:
Start from M. Long Tourism Office at 9:00 a.m. Go around Muang Long past the Stone Mountain to visit a Taileu village. Then, continue to ride up the unpaved road experiencing great views of Muang Long town, Long Valley, mountains, rice fields and rubber gardens. At places the roads go to mountain tops and the ridge. There are 14 villages: 8 Akhas, 2 Taileus, 3 Lahous and 1 Lanten include 2 days.
Both days lunch is included and eaten on the way. Stay overnight in Akha village “ChaKoeNuey Village”.
The second day leave at about 9:30 a.m and pass 3 Akha villages down to Xieng Kok. Then, ride to visit 3 Lahou villages and to the Laos – Myanmar border at Ban Houay Koum. After visiting go back to Xieng Kok and have lunch at restaurant “. The way we return we will visit the Lanten village. and arrive in Muang Long in the late in the afternoon, around 4pm.
Sing District
Muang Sing is a 58 km motorbike journey from Luang Namtha. Enjoy a ride through the Nam Ha National Protected Area with beautiful views of evergreen forest and hill country. There are many different villages and ethnic communities along the way.
Vieng Phoukha
Vieng Phoukha is 60 km south from Luang Namtha. It once thrived as a trading centre on the ‘Tea Caravan Trail’, being about halfway between Thailand and southern China. Add to your motorbike trip with short or overnight treks, visit Kao Rao Cave and experience one of the Lahu, Akha or Hmong villages.
Nalae District
You can explore Nalae by boat, bicycle or motorbike. From Luang Namtha either take a boat or ride to Nalae District. Once there you can discover Khankham Village (via boat) and stay overnight in the lodge. Biking and trekking is available in Nalae District. Best to arrange an itinerary with one of the local tour companies in Luang Namtha.
