Delve into the Green Triangle

Head out on a challenging four-day trek through raw nature in Laos’ northwestern frontier with China and Myanmar on the “Chao Fa Trail”, and spend your nights in Tai Lue and Akha homes. This new tour drives due north of Sing Town to Ban Mom and beyond, before trekking to the Tai Lue village of Ban Xay on the Mekong for the night. A pre-dinner riverside walk presents sunset over a Myanmar-mountain horizon. You can also walk around the village and chat with the locals, learn about their lifestyle, and watch women weave. Start the next day with a visit to an ancient Buddhist stupa before embarking on a rugged mountain climb on sometimes steep trails to 1,500 meters for a panorama of Myanmar’s endless sea of green mountains. The path continues to Ban Eula, an Akha village, where you’ll meet the locals, eat dinner with them, get a traditional massage, and spend the night. The next morning’s rigorous march over the mountains through lush primal forests leads to remote Ban Loku, and further to Ban Kopen, as the guide explains the various forest food products and herbal remedies. The day ends at Ban Pha Daeng with an overnight homestay. A final four-hour trek ventures through farm fields and over mountains to a buffalo farm and ride back to Sing Town. This tour only operates from October to June, as the rains during Adventure Season make the steep trails too slippery for a trek.
