Luang Namtha museums are a great place to start your journey and learn about Luang Namtha’s cultural and historical heritage. The main museum is situated in Luang Namtha Town, just a couple blocks north of the guesthouses on the main road. Muang Sing also has a good museum located in a historical house in the center of town. You can also visit a village museum in Nam Dee Village, a Lanten village located a short bicycle ride from Luang Namtha Town.

Luang Namtha Province Museum

Description: The Luang Namtha Museum is a great place to start your trip. Artefacts from the many ethnic groups in the province are on display, along with items that represent the interesting historical of the province. It has an extensive collection of ethnic clothing, agricultural tools, Buddha images, and bronze drums.

Muang Sing Museum
District: Sing
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00-11:30, 1:30-3:30
Description: The Muang Sing Museum was originally the house of a local prince, Jao Fa Phanya Sekong, and now houses implements and artefacts of ethnic people of the district, including Akha, Tai Lue and Tai Neua people.

Nam Dee Lanten Traditional House
District: Namtha
Hours: Every day during daytime hours.
Description: This traditional Lanten house is on display at the entrance to the Nam Dee Community Forest and Waterfall at Nam Dee Village. Entrance to the traditional house is included in the fee for visiting the forest and waterfall. Read More [Link to Nam Dee]
